Martin Short Explains...

...his incomparable impression of Jerry Lewis.

"The old Jerry has a symbolic lozenge in his mouth. His laugh is like a plum pudding boiling over."

I've always LOVED Martin Short's description of how to do a Jerry Lewis impression (the lozenge) as much as I've always hated Jerry Lewis. I also love the thing said about Jerry Lewis (possibly also by Short) that Jerry Lewis is only funny when he's trying to be serious and NEVER funny when he's trying to be funny!

(i'm not a huge jerry lewis fan, either, but don't tell ernest. he ADORES jerry. no idea why...) and he is truly only funny when he's trying not to be. like when he was screaming at robert deniro in 'king of comedy.' hilarious stuff, man.

Ah, I never saw KING OF COMEDY - DeNiro isn't exactly one of my faves either, you understand. And what does Ernest know anyway?!? You can't go by HIS taste! He does guys, fer criminitly!!!

Not that there's anything WRONG with that. . .
